Plum Pudding

Emile Deschamps , 19th century poet ,in his childhood, at a school in Orleans, Deschamps shared a table with a certain M. de Fortgibu, who had returned from England with a taste for plum puddings, then unknown in France. He insisted Deschamps to taste one.

Ten years later Deschamps passed a restaurant and saw a plum pudding being prepared inside. His early taste, long forgotten, urged him to enter and ask for a slice; but the pudding was reserved for another, and Deschamps was obliged to beg the favour from this stranger. It turned out to be M. de Fortgibu, and both were astonished at meeting again for the second time over the same dish.

Many years passed again, and Deschamps was invited to a dinner party which featured an English plum pudding; and Deschamps delighted his hosts with the tale of his extraordinary encounter with de Fortgibu. They all joked about the possibility of the old man turning up. During the meal he really did. De Fortgibu had also been invited out to dinner, but by the occupant of another apartment in the building, and had lost his way. "Three times in my life have I eaten plum pudding, and three times have I seen M. de Fortgibu!" said Deschamps. "My hair stood up on my head. A fourth time I should feel capable of any thing . . . or nothing!"

The Gorman Dogfight-Encounters with UFO

On the night of October 1st 1948 Lieutenant George F. Gorman of North Dakota Air National Guard had just been on a cross-country flight with his squadron. Upon his return to Hector airport in Fargo he thought he would log some night flying time so he remained up in the air as the other airplanes landed. He circled his F-51 over the lighted football stadium and then around the city he was then preparing to land at around 9pm that night and he was cleared to do so by the control tower. He was told about another aircraft in the area (Piper Cub) which was the only other plane, he could see the light aircraft below about 500 feet below his location. Then what appeared to be a taillight of a plane passed him on the right but the tower told him they knew of no other plane in the area.

Gorman told the tower he was going to check out and investigate what he thought to be another aircraft and pulled his F-51 up and out toward the moving light. He closed in within about 1,000 yards and took a good look at the flying object. Gorman later stated - "It was about six to eight inches in diameter, clear white, and completely round without fuzz at the edges [i.e., sharp and clear]. It was blinking on and off. As I approached, however, the light suddenly became steady and pulled into a sharp left bank. I thought it was making a pass at the tower. I dived after it and brought my manifold pressure up to sixty inches but I couldn't catch up with the thing. It started gaining altitude and again made a left bank, I put my F-51 into a sharp turn and tried to cut the light off in its turn. By then we were at about 7,000 feet. Suddenly it made a sharp right turn and we headed straight at each other. Just when we were about to collide, I guess I got scared. I went into a dive and the light passed over my canopy at about 500 feet. Then, it made a left circle about 1,000 feet above, and I gave chase again."

Gorman then cut sharply toward the light which was once again coming at him when collision again seemed imminent the object shot straight upwards and into the air in a steep climb, which then disappeared overhead. Gorman again attempted to pursue it but his plane went into a power stall at about 14,000 feet and the object was not seen again. The time was now 9:27pm. Gorman was shaken by the encounter and had a hard time handling the plane Gorman was a veteran pilot and flying instructor during World War II and he had noticed no sound, Odor or exhaust trail from the strange object during the dogfight and no deviation on his instruments. At some times during the fight he had pushed the F-51 to full power sometimes even reaching 400 mph. Gorman would later describes the object as round and flattened. Air traffic controllers Lloyd D. Jensen and H E. Johnson also saw the strange light near the airfield and they stated the following - "After passing to the east of the airport it seemed to take a northwest heading, The object seemed to be at about 2,000 feet and appeared to be traveling at quite an excessive speed compared to a Piper Cub that was east of the field at the time. No definite outline could be identified. Both objects [the UFO and the Piper Cub] were sighted at the same time." Jensen said that through binoculars he sighted, "an object or a light traveling at a high rate of speed, apparently on a southwest heading. The F-51 [Gorman's plane] was some distance behind and the object was traveling fast enough to increase the spacing between itself and the fighter. The object appeared to be only a round light, perfectly formed, with no fuzzy edges or rays leaving its body. The edges were clear cut. No other shape was observed. The main identifying characteristic was the high rate of speed at which it was apparently traveling." The pilot of the Piper Cub, Dr. A. E. Cannon, and his passenger, Einar Nielson, also witnessed the swiftly moving light while in radio communication with the tower: "While circling the football field at NDAC at 1,600 feet, Fargo tower advised us that there was an F-51 in the air and a few moments later asked us who the third plane might be," Cannon said, "We had noticed the 51 and when we were over the north side of Hector field going west, a light, seemingly on a plane, passed above and to the north, moving very swiftly toward the west. At first we thought it was the 51, but we then saw the light of the 51 higher and move over the field. We landed on Runway 3, taxied to the administration building, and went up to the tower and listened to the calls from the 51, which seemed to be trying to overtake the plane or lighted object, which then went southwest and over the city. The object was moving very swiftly, much faster than the 51. We tried to get a better view with a pair of binoculars, but couldn't follow it well enough."

Gorman stated that he was certain the object was under the control of something intelligent he also stated - "I am also convinced that the object was governed by the laws of inertia because its acceleration was rapid but not immediate, and although it was able to turn fairly tight at considerable speed, it still followed a natural curve." He stated that the light was able to attain a much steeper climb than his F-51 and also outturn and out speed his F-51 also.

The Gorman Dogfight has now become one of the most noted UFO encounters in PROJECT BLUE BOOK, the Air Force’s official record.

Amazing Coincidence

Sometime in late 1950s, a business man, George.D.Bryson, was on a business trip to New York. When the train reached Louisville station he suddenly had a feeling to visit historic Kentucky town so he dropped his trip to NewYork. He had never been to Louisville before and so he had to enquire to find the best hotel. Nobody could even guess he will be in Louisville. He decided to stay in Brown Hotel. After signing the register, just for a joke he asked the desk clerk of the hotel”Any mail for me?” He was shocked when the clerk handed over a letter addressed to him and bearing his room number. The previous room occupant of Room 307 was another George.D.Bryson

Coincidence?

Arthur Butterworth, of Skipton, Yorkshire, was serving the army in an army camp in Taverham near Norwich during the Second World War. He ordered a second hand book on music from a London Bookseller. The book reached him finally. He opened the parcel standing at the window of his army camp. As he opened the parcel a picture post card fell out from the book which most probably might have used as a bookmark by the previous owner. Writing on the side of the postcard showed that it was written in 4 August 1913.But the astonishing thing of this incident is that when he turned the postcard over, the picture showed the exact view that he had from his camp window at that very moment.

Each army camp was given a post code during the second world war to conceal it ,and the posts were not send it in name so sender can never know which camp was it so it cant be thought that someone had done it purposefully. Just a chance? Or what is it?

Deadbody Returns Home

Charles Francis Coghlan a Canadian Actor went on a tour to Texas in 1899.While on the tour he was taken ill and died in Galveston. The actor was from Prince Edward Island, in the Gulf of St Lawrence. It was almost 3500 miles away from Galveston, too far to return his body to home. So he was buried in a lead coffin inside a granite burial chamber in Galveston.

In less than a year the great hurricane of September 1900 hit the Galveston Island. The hurricane flooded the cemetery. The burial chamber was destroyed by the flood and Coghlan’s coffin floated out into the Gulf Of Mexico, it later floated along the Florida coastline and into Atlantic, from where it was forced north by Gulf Stream.

After eight years, one day in October 1908 some fishermen on Prince Edward Island spotted a long, weather-scarred box floating near the shore. It was Coghlan’s coffin.Coghlans body at last came home. The Islanders later buried the actor in a nearby church where he was christened as a baby.

Easter Island

The Dutch Navigator Jacob Roggeveen discovered Easter Island in 1722.Easter Island is a tiny Island in Pacific Ocean 2,500 miles west of Chile. When Jacob Roggeveen discovered Easter Islands he was shocked to see huge stone statues there.

Easter Island is volcanic, with very few trees. It does have plenty of insects and only rats as animal population.

There were about 100 completed and 150 half finished statues on the Island. The statues have ruthless expression and are gigantic .Some of them as high as a three storied building and weigh over 60 tons. They signify Caucasian Males with long ears, large eyes, protruding chins and little legs. The statues are almost naked with some sort of carving around the stomach. The statues are so symmetrical that when erected they had perfect balance. Some of the statues are now topple and broken.

The race they represent is a mystery with their turned-up noses and thin lips. They has no eyes but only have deep holes under the large noble head. They seemed like they are in a state of thinking deeply. The statues construction might have stopped suddenly in 1600s.Some statues are half carved from volcanic rock and the carver’s tool still lie scattered near by.

Many explanations were given to the strange statues one of it is that the group of long ears who came to the island in 475 A.D.Some years later another group of short ears came to island who were enslaved by the Long ears race. The Long ears group made the short ears group work on the statues but around 1600s the short ears got up against the long ears and killed all of them.

There are many explanations which surround Easter Island but none of it have been proved successfully The mystery still remains.

Time Travel

On August 10, 1901 two school teachers Annie Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain visited Versailles. After seeing Palace of Versailles they started to walk to see the Petit Trianon, but they missed a right turn and walked straight and suddenly without their knowledge they traveled backward in time. They came to cross a garden which didn’t exist in 1901 but existed in 1789.they also saw people who died more than a century ago and even talked to them. Their experience was announced in 1911 and ever since lot of researches was done on it.

Annie Moberly was the daughter of an Oxford Don who later became the Bishop of Salisbury, England. She became a teacher and was appointed as the 1st principal of St Hugh’s College in Oxford. Eleanor Jourdain was also a daughter of a preacher. She went on to become the vice-principal of St Hugh’s High school, where she happened to be become a good friend of Annie.

Their experience was submitted to lot of researches since then and was supported by lot of researchers over the years.

Shepherd Healer

Athanasios Contogeorge shepherd from Greece became famous when he healed a child’s crooked leg when he was 28 years old. Before this incident he was just confined to animals He soon became very famous and came to be called as Vlahos (means shepherd). He started treating millionaires and many distinguished persons One among of them was the King Paul of Greece who broke his foot in an accident. Another notable person among his patients was Haile Selassie of Ethiopia who had a backache when he was visiting Greece.

He became so famous that he had hundreds of patients each day .Soon medical authorities brought a case against him in Athens court. They claimed he was a fraud and was performing black magic on people.

When judge asked him if he had healing powers, Athanasios answered he didn’t know. But when a doctor asked him whether he professes to heal he answered that he does heal. He was then asked if he does have a medical certificate from any university or if he had any permission to practice medicine. They further abused him saying he is illiterate and he could not read or write. The doctors asked the court to ban him from continuing his practice of black magic and fooling innocent people.
Athanasios was so much hurt by the attack of doctors that he challenged doctors asking if any of them could perform what he was going to perform he would stop healing. The doctors argued against this as they thought he was going to do some trick but the judge allowed him to proceed.

The Shepherd went to the back of court room and he untied a lamb that had been tethered there. He then patted it and broke its leg. The people in the room could clearly hear the legs break. He then asked the doctors to examine the lamb and doctors verified that its leg had been broken.

Shepherd then put the lamb on the floor and set its bone in place. To everyone’s shock the lamb got up and began to run around in the courtroom. The doctors even examined it but they had no answer to what they had just found out. The shepherd asked if anyone of them could perform the same and he won his case.

Death Worm

Mongolian Death Worm is a snake like monstrous creature said to live beneath the sands of Gobi Desert. The creature is known to spit acid like saliva on its victims. The Worm can also pump out jolts of powerful electricity meters away. The local name given to the worm is Allghoi(or Orghoi). It is believed that touching any part of the worm will bring instant death, and its venom supposedly corrodes metal.

The creature is claimed to be bright red in color, two to five feet long, it resembles the intestine of a cattle. It is sometimes described as having darker spots or blotches, and sometimes said to bear spiked projections at both ends. Its tail is short as if it is cut off. It moves in strange ways either is said to roll around or wriggle sideways. It is seen only during hottest months of year-June and July and later part of the year it sleeps under the sands. It comes out of the sands mainly when ground is wet when it can kill easily by its powerful shock of electricity

Some scientists claim Death worm is not a worm at all but claims that it belongs to a group of reptiles known as amphisbaenas or worm lizards. These are a primitive group of poorly studied animals. They are not snakes or lizards but are related to both.

The existence of Death worm still remains unconfirmed and mysterious. Mongolians very much believes in the existence of creature and are so afraid of this terrible beast that they simply clammed up and refused to talk about it.

A Mysterious Disappearance

David Lang's 2 children, George, 8, and Sarah, 11, were playing in the yard just a few miles outside of Gallatin, Tennessee with a wooden wagon pulled by wooden horses when Lang and his wife came out of the vine-covered brick house. Lang probably talked to the children about the toy, which he had bought for them in Nashville that morning. Then he began to walk across the pasture, which was burned brown by a dry spell. At this time, Judge August Peck and Lang's brother-in-law came driving up the lane in a buggy. The judge saw Lang in the field and was just going to shout to him when it happened. Lang vanished from the earth. One minute he was standing in an open field, on which there was short grass but no trees, stones, or fences. The next minute he was simply gone.

Mrs. Lang and the 2 men went to the spot where Lang had disappeared, thinking that he might have fallen into a crack in the earth. But they found no such crack. Mrs. Lang became hysterical and was led, screaming, into the house. Someone rang a huge bell, which brought the neighbors to help. Soon scores of people were searching the field and nearby land, but to no avail.

A surveyor and geologist who examined the field later found limestone bedrock just a few feet underground. There was no fracture in this bedrock.
For a month the search went on. Curiosity seekers came to gawk. All the Lang servants except the cook quit in fear.

A year later, the grass where Lang had disappeared had grown high and thick in a circle 20' in diameter. Not one of the farm animals would graze there, and it seemed free of insects. It was as though an ominous presence hovered over that piece of ground.

One day in early August, 1881, Sarah and George approached the green circle of high grass. Sarah called out, "Father, are you anywhere around?" There was no answer, but she repeated the question 4 times. They were about to walk away when they heard a faint cry for help, a cry that came out of nowhere. Quickly the children ran and got their mother, who returned with them to the spot and called as they had done. Her husband answered. For several days, the family returned, and each day when they called, the answering voice became fainter, until finally there was no response at all.

Mrs. Lang never fully recovered, and there was never a funeral or memorial service for Mr. Lang. Mrs. Lang eventually left the farm and allowed Judge Peck to rent it out, with the exception of the field in the front of the house. That pasture was left untouched as long as she lived.
